2016 MY Clutch
Am i naive to think that he last run defenders clutch was better than the early ones?

I heard a slight rattle today at 7,000 miles - which reminded me my 2008 2.4 went noisy around 8 or 9k and was replaced twice under warranty, i dont really want the same hassle with this one Mike

Nevermind the clutch, what makes you think anything on the last ones was better than early ones?! Shocked

Well thats a loaded question - i certainly dont like the filler cap...i think they added and removed somethings which might mean the net change isnt any better or worse! Rolling with laughter

Back to the clutch...
they did upgrade the clutch mid run around 2009/2010, the second clutch on the 2008 2.4 was the uprated one which fixed it and i thought they redesigned it again or uprated it again within the last year or so of production, which then covered the 150bhp versions Mike

I think the filler cap is just so it's standardised with the other models in the range. The Range Rover, Discovery, Jaguars etc all use a screw in one, it's just they're normally behind a locking flap so don't have a key.

They did revise the design of the clutch plate a few times and the clutch hydraulics were modifed too. If you bought a late production vehicle then it would have had the latest parts fitted when it was built.

The later plates should be better, but most probably havent seen enough service yet to tell if they're much better.

I believe the last limited editions remapped to 150BHP had upgraded clutches, but don't know if they were any better.

My 2012 has had 3 new clutches under warranty, the last one which was installed the weekend before I bought it. When it goes again I will certainly be changing to a Clutchfix clutch! James

I should hope they are at £1300 each..... vs. about £300ish for the genuine standard kit.
