Few years back - charging down the M5 when eldest daughter, who was probably no more that four at the time, completely out of the blue, boldly announces from the back of the car.....
'Daddy keeps naughty things in his shed'......... Interesting silence for a few seconds.... you could almost hear SWMBO's hackles rising....... I asked the obvious question..... 'What naughty thing's do I keep in the shed darling ?' 'Naughty Ladies' comes the reply. Now........ the death stare from SWMBO was something to behold....... and as much as I tried to laugh it off, she wasn't having any of it...... After two minutes of eerie silence...it suddenly dawned on me...... 'Hang on..... we don't have a shed !' Good job the littl'un hadn't looked under the bed Jon - 110 td5 [sold]. Currently Defenderless. |

Best one I have seen lately was my nephew. When my brother announced to him that it was bed time he put his fingers in his ears and said 'I can't see you' Glyn |

a good 12+ years ago i was in a Peugeot 505 with my 4 children when i drove over a very high ridge in the Welsh mountains.
the going up side in the sun was fine, no ice or snow. went over the ridge onto a steep down hill bit and slid and swerved until we came to a stop at an angle across the road. Then my rally mad eldest son says "phew - but where's Colin McCrae when you need him...." that made me laugh. Ps - got my wife and children out as it was an extremely steep hill, they walked down on the verge and i managed to crab the car down with one wheel on the verge/ditch. when i got to the bottler a farmer who was watching said "never thought you'd manage that". i was a wreck....... When my daughter was young, we used to take a break on the motorway services together. I used to look at the top shelf and my daugher looked at the bottom shelf. She asked me what were my magazines called and I said maps. When we returned to the car, she told the wife that I had been looking at maps and my wife said that's alright darling. This went on for years, "he's been looking at those maps again mummy!" was the first thing she said when we returned to the car every time.
It was only when my wife came with us to the services shop, one day, that the secret came out. Happy times, Merlin |

A few years back - my mate and our 12 year old sons stopped at the pub for a lunchtime beverage on the way back from football....
New barmaid who didn't know how to pull a pint = froth on the top of beer. Mate's son to me "Do you like head John?" Cue lots of laughter from whole pub and a bemused 12 year old John http://www.hampshire4x4response.co.uk 2011 Tdci 110 CSW XS |

Firstly, as a rule I don't swear infront of the kids but sometimes, particularly when driving, a choice 'remark' will pop out. Secondly, children are like sponges and will not only learn the odd 'expression' but know exactly the kind of context in which it was said.
Anyway when my eldest daughter was two we were driving along when I hit a large pothole which made quite a loud bang. A couple of seconds later she says 'oh !'. Couldn't help but laugh but I watched my gob after that! |
