You wanna treat it with something like Fertan (leave for 12 hours) or similar you can get from Amazon prime delivered tomorrow then some rich Zinc primer put on Friday morning then top coat then wax oil Saturday.
Zinc rich spray and top coat you can get from Euro Carparts or Amazon, screwfix, toolstation halfords etc pretty easy. I use some German stuff which is pretty amazing but I dont think you can get it in time. https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_...inc+primer |

Sorry I presumed it was at your house!
Dunno if you only have Saturday, could you get some zinc rich spray from Amazon/Motor factors etc it dries pretty quick then some quick dry top then wax oil better than just the oil I think? You would need to wire brush off as much rust as you could with a twisted grinder brush before putting on the primer. |

Yes,
Was thinking a drill wire brush thing to attach the rust already there... get that off, Zinc Primer, black top coat and then wax oil or similar? Even amazon primer do not deliver the tins and stuff next day due to weights I guess? Will stop at my local motor factors on way to work they are always very helpful and can see what they have. Thanks |

Yep remove as much rust as you can but really need to convert it or remove it completely to stop it coming back but time waits for no-one!
If you have some Hydrochloric acid (nasty toxic gas is released so need a descent mask and organic filter) lying about this is amazing at getting the metal back to new, I have a big container full of it I use on parts and in a few minutes eats the rust away then neutralise it with baking soda and lots of water then dry and prime straight over it. Great when you wanna get rid of rust asap, get it from ebay for next time:-) Last edited by Frostyboy on 18th Oct 2017 8:03pm. Edited 1 time in total |

Use the metal prep and degreaser for the por 15 and when it's dry get it painted with the por15 paint then build the body back up. Wax etc can be sprayed on any time when the paint has dried. Watch the YouTube vids of it, it's great stuff. Ray

^ Your right,
If I had it at home like this then all good.... However the chassis given its 40 odd years old has done very very well ![]() I will do what I can with what products I can get for Saturday and like you say once home its on the list to do anyway. Maybe I should get the boot floor fitted with butterfly bolts so I can take it out ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I would wire brush, fertan, then dinitrol... Even if you get the Fertan an hour to do it's work, you can rinse, dry, and dinitrol... Works for me... Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)
