Found & Bought a Series 1 project
I have been hampering over finding a Series 1 one day to restore. On Sunday I saw my mate steaming along with his 130 & trailer with a Series 3 on it. I popped up to see him yesterday morning & found out that he had done a clearance job on an Estate in East Sussex. Which included the S3 & this Series 1. I was told it was hanging & needed a great deal of work. My ears pricked up & I wanted to look at it. I went to my mates house & was greeted by this lovely thing which was just saying please save me Very Happy

I have been told so far is a one family owned. New in Jan 1952 80 inch. 2L petrol engine & is fairly complete.

Its been in the brambles for 8-10 years from what my mate was told before he winched it out

We fired a few prices until we were both happy & I am the new proud owner. Keys & log book are missing atm Crying or Very sad

I did not expect to be buying a series one quite so soon

The engine is free & it rolls. The chassis & bulk head require a great deal of welding & tlc but I think its save able

I am new to S1 & am looking to sorting this old girl out once I have some space cleared!!

I quite like the how it is look so may just pull it apart to sort the chassis etc & just clean up & oil the rest up and leave it as an honest landy rather than a show piece. What you think guys??

First things first, If you have no V5 DO NOT pull it apart!
You need to sort out registration first,
This has become a long drawn out afair now.

My advice is to join the club, and talk to Mick who deals in registrations.

It looks like a nice project, try to resist the urge to paint it!
Sounds like you have your work cut out regarding bulkhead and chassis, but everything is doable Thumbs Up

Cheers

Looks / will look great Thumbs Up

I've no idea with the S1, way out of my price range so my SIII will do for me.

If its your first series, finding out where you get all the parts from and the best places takes a while as (certainly for the SIII there are loads of choice)

I guess you will be far more limited and the prices somewhat higher, Being a S1 the prices for all the bits people seem to think of a number, double it and add some more Smile

Keep us updated on the re birth Thumbs Up

Yes I would highly recommend the club,

Both of the 80" Land Rovers, yours and Familymads do not appear on the club database, and are not known to the club,
So nice to see two newcomers make an appearance after all those years Thumbs Up 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"
