If it's not too late already, I would suggest condsidering uprating your fridge cable.
I currently have my fridge by the back door, on the left as you stand at the door so it's on the same side as the battery but the whole length of the vehicle. It's run using 4mm^2 cable and I get about 0.6-0.7V drop along that (the fridge has a built in voltmeter which reads the same as my main voltmeter when the fridge isn't cooling). That doesn't sound like a lot, but combined with the battery voltage dipping a little bit when under load it means that I can't have the fridge cutout set at 11.7V, I have to have it at the lower setting which is something like 10.5V. |

This weekend started with putting the ply on the roof, forgot to take a picture of how it looked. We then moved onto carpeting. I went for the mega stretch carpet from Mega Van Mats, can highly recommend!! We used their spray glue to stick it on, you can work it around corners easily and overall is brilliant stuff.
![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge The curves in the roof were filled with 30mm closed cell foam, we weren’t sure how it would turn out but overall I think it came out really well! ![]() Click image to enlarge Fitted the carpet to them and stuck them on and this is the end result! ![]() Click image to enlarge Very pleased with it, starting to feel like something now and is much quieter when driving. I can’t take any of the credit for the finishing as my fiancé’s dad did all the tricky bits in all of the corners and did an amazing job. On to fitting the heater, lights and back panels next weekend! |

Haven’t updated in a while and a fair bit has changed.
Electrics are in and the lights work! Fridge was placed in at this point. ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge Diesel heater has also been fitted, it is an eberspacher D2, easy to install and works really well. ![]() Click image to enlarge That was all last weekend, this weekend we visited a family friend who makes fitted wardrobes and get him to cut out the furniture we had measured up for, which we then built today. It is coming together nicely now and starting to look like a camper! Fridge is properly mounted too. We just have to do the finishing now! ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge |

Years ago I fitted this in my 90 off roader just for single nights out, just to be out of the wind and off the floor made a big difference so your's should be luxury
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I had to sleep with my head to the wind screen so I could use the CB and listen to CD's in the sleeping bag and still beable to turn them off ,I also had a shelf inflating mat a real good bit of kit. |

Looks fantastic!! Did you consider fitting some alpine windows to let in some natural light? James

The heater is ontop on the wheel arch and the exhaust goes through into the empty space in front of the wheel then routes the the back. i will look into the altitude! thanks
I did have a look at putting windows in, i wanted to keep the original look, never a fan of caravan windows in defenders. Also i quite like the idea of it not looking like a camper so we can set up camp almost anywhere and it does not draw too much attention. |

95% complete now! Just waiting on the mattress’s to turn up now. Really pleased how it looks now! Plenty of storage and it is very warm. I have added an insulated curtain between the cab and the back but didn’t get any pictures. Off down to Dorset next weekend to test it out.
