Windscreen washers not working
Hello

I've just bought this Defender, just been MOT'd, but when I tried the washers, they didn't work. I filled the washer bottle up, the bottle is under the wing just above the passenger side headlight, only to find water leaking straight out. I removed the headlight to find the bottle, with a hole on the left hand side, where a pump should be. No sign of the pipe anywhere, although the wires were close by. There is still a pump fitted on the right of the bottle, presumably the rear screen if it had one, which it doesn't, with wires still connected.

How did this get MOT'd with no washers i don't know.

So, I thought I could plug the hole and use the other pump, changed the connections over and the pump didn't run. Checked with a meter and no voltage on either set of leads.

Could it be a fuse? the wipers work when you press the screen wash stalk, do they share a fuse?
Could it be the switch in the stalk? again the wipers work, but are they on a different switch?
Anything else I can try, bit confused as to how it's happened at the moment, clearly had problems before, hence why the pump was removed

Suggestions gratefully received

Many thanks

Thanks for this, I'm not an auto electrician, but it looks like the same fuse supplies the wipers and washers, so I'm guessing the fuse is ok?

What I can't work out is if the washer switch also supplies the wipers, so they wipe when washed, as the wipers do work on wash cycle.

Can anyone advise?

Thanks

So it's not the fuse, or the switch, only leaves the wiring to check? or am I missing something else?

Thanks
