Did you save your favourite stations manually (i.e. find the channels and then hold in button 1 until it saves it etc.) or do you use the AUTO button to fill the six presets? The only thing I can think of is if you did the latter then perhaps it finds the six strongest every time you start the car. I changed my radio some time ago, but the only time it ever searched for channels was after unplugging the battery. Peter

Mine holds onto its presets (I think). That said, I really only listen to a couple of stations but they always seem to be there
I don't think it's normal. One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS + New Defender 110 First Edition |

Just I thought....
I think the ABS thingy ma bob controller is very close to aerial on the XS, it ruins the radio reception if the aerial is not fully extended. Had this issue on mine. Aerial was still slightly down, only by a couple of inches, reception was totally useless until I realised. Also, try playing a CD and see if you have the same issue when you cut the engine. Sounds like its been wired wrong. The radio needs a constant low current to save all the preset stations. If it does not save them something is wrong.
Give your dealers hell young man Oh and if you could get someone to video your conversation with the dealers to post on youtube. 59 2.4 110 XS Utility 55 TD5 110 CSW Special Vehicle |

I bought it new and every time it goes in for our many "enhancements" i try to get the dealer to fix it and every time i pick it up they say it "only does it in certain areas"... but it does it ALL the time with me and it goes to a non station that hisses like hell.... it also must have the constant feed as it would lose the memory and need re-coded? 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

I fitted the 12s wiring on my 07 and did not need to re-code the radio when re-connecting the battery.
It always lost it's presets. The new LR has the same radio but does not suffer the same problem, so our radios were faulty. |

Thanks, i just emailed my supplying dealer and told them basically it has gone on too long and i want a new head unit ASAP... i don't think it should do this on a £26k car. We will see what they say. Has anyone had thiers replaced? 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

My service manager mentioned somebody took delivery of their brand new 90 last week and the right hand side speakers were all faulty (damaged), LR replaced all the speakers under warranty. Not the same problem like yours Red dot but you should raise the issue and have a brand new radio installed! '08 LR Defender 110

i know this may not be the easyest or most sensible route however if you wanted to the original radio is so easy to remove and replace with an aftermarket unit i.e. Sony or Kenwood ect for £50 upwards infact you could have a better radio anyway. litterally with mine it was plug and play (Kenwood) however my unit was more complicated than your every day CD player. that way you'll sort the problem and have a nice UPGRADED Radio/CD player at the same time. Just an idea
