Jerry clearly has looked for inspiration at the A6 allroad. But I do like it, much better than his Eewok and D5.
Eric You never actually own a Defender. Looks like a photoshopped stretched velar
Funny, when I was down at the Velar training course they had an A6 allroad for comparison My confidence has been writing cheques that my abilities can't cash for years. |

Given the way that JLR are plundering Land Rover history for model names, I fully expect their next announcement to be a forward control Darren

Or maybe the Range Rover LLama.
For anybody wondering, here's the partially restored remains of the only surviving original Road Rover: Click image to enlarge Darren 110 USW BUILD THREAD - EXPEDITION TRAILER - 200tdi 90 BUILD THREAD - SANKEY TRAILER - IG@landroveranorak "You came in that thing? Since 2010 Jaguar Landrover have launched the following SUVs,
Evoque L405 Range Rover L494 RR Sport Discovery Sport Jaguar X-pace Evoque Cabriolet Discovery 5 Velar Jaguar E-pace and now news of a Road Rover. Still no definite news on a Defender, 11th out 11 on a list of priorities. It's 34 years since the 110 was created by adding coil spring suspension to a 1958 series 2 body. Time to give up hope? |

Given all the red tape, EU regs, costs to develop test and build are we really surprised.
Also, given the aforementioned rules and regs - to say nothing of JLR's target demographic - would we really want it anyway? They'll only ruin the name and the memory. |

It's not really EU regs, it's various global safety regulations.
If they want to make something they can sell anywhere in the western world then it has to comply with them. The sale of new Defenders has essentially been banned in North America for 20 years, that's down to US regs, not EU ones. If you exclude everywhere that has safety regulations, the market is tiny. At best i think we'll see something akin to a Toyota Hilux, but i think we'll more likely see something to compete with the Jeep Wrangler as a lifestyle vehicle. Much like the current Wrangler has design cues from the original Willy's Jeep, but in reality doesn't look much light one. But regarding the original post i don't see much point naming it a "Road Rover", they may as well just name it "Rover". They do after all own the rights to the 'Rover' name. They bought the rights to the brand from BMW when MG-Rover relinquished their licence to it back to BMW (by going bust). |

Nice looking car, IMO, but why don't they just keep it in JLR's 'Road' Division, otherwise known as 'Jaguar'? Monsieur Le Grenadier
