10P vs 15P engine block
Anybody know if there is a difference between the 10P and 15P block? I know the heads are different, injectors, ECU etc. But if you were going to replace the block on a 10P engine, could you use a 15P block? it's a Landrover thing...

A number of sites list part LBB111690 as 1999-2006 as the superseded final part number, so presumably they should be backwards compatible?

Did some poking around in the the JLR Electronics Parts catalogue and learned the following:

Over the entire Td5 build period, there is only 1 part number for the bare block. ERR6977

That tells me they must be the same for all years, 10P, 15P and 16P.

Looks like the block remained the same, and a 10P head would fit a 15P block. it's a Landrover thing...

LOL... no I'm all good.I've had a new head on mine now for a few months, just tired 150,000km on the weekend.

Just helping out a friend of mine with a restoration project. The short engine (short block to us westerners, just a block with pistons and crank) came with a 15P serial number. The original was a 10P but it also had a new (well, 10,000km old) AMC head on it. Just wanted to double check everything was good before putting it together. it's a Landrover thing...
