I apparently can't do the code right to quote you both -- thanks Black Puma, and thanks Supacat for letting me know you liked it. Happy to have shared it and glad you enjoyed! Cheers! |

Now I gotta say -- I think that looks fantastic. The black seems to dampen some of the more unappealing lines of the duckbill hood. I also really liked the dark blue version that I think they were using at the bike races. White is a classic "NGO" Colour, but the darker ones seem to compliment the vehicle better. |

Black car sitting in the shade, slightly underexposed....😂
Anyway, is that some sort of a fancy mesh down there in the front, or a cooler/rad thingy? Would be sub optimal Can’t really see it, it’s too dark 😉 |

Me too. There's one in a video with some simple Style 6010-alike alloys that looks very smart. |

IMO, that ^ front end looks excessively cluttered and needs simplifying.
I like the black version because, as said, it helps hide the poor front end. I don't suppose they'll re-design it....? |

They are thinking of a front end redesign and it will take place around the same time that the Disco 5 has its rear number plate centralised......

Black looks better. Biggest improvement is taking the chrome detailing off the grille.
Hoping there will be modifications past the prototype. But seeing the IP issues faced with replicating the JLR Defender, they may just stick with it as is. Tough gig for sure, hard to beat the look of our old Defenders, minimal with purpose and just right proportions. C'mon Ineos, we all want the Grenadier to succeed, make her look less ducky will ya |

I was wondering about the front end and all the talk of 'regulations' as yesterday I saw a Jimny and wondered how they had got away with a slab front and tidy bumper. Does bonnet height have an impact (pardon the pun) on interpreting the regs?
(As an aside, I read that the 2020 Jimny had sold out across Italy. Bet LR would like sales like that). Back on topic. Then I wondered how vehicles like the the VW ID Buzz would pass the bumper test. If you look at the photo below, the front end is practically vertical and only starts properly swooping backward at a metre or so off the ground. I know it's not an exact comparison, but it does make you think. Click image to enlarge Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

I wonder if the VW ID Buzz front end is made from deformable material to absorb some of the pedestrian impact?
I also wonder if the Grenadier chassis rails partially extend forwards to facilitate the easy mounting of a front winch, which results in the need for a bumper that protrudes further. That being said the Grenadier front bumper is very similar to the bumper fitted on EU spec Wranglers. The USA Wranglers have a much slimmer bumper. Ironic given the ridiculous bumpers EU car manufacturers had to fit to vehicles exported to the USA in the 70's !!! Not sure how Suzuki get away with such a sim bumper. Perhaps the Jimny is so light that it will come off worse in a collision with a pedestrian |

The Jimmy has sold out because it is no longer available in the EU. It was cocking up Suzuki Suzuki’s emissions targets.
The VW ID bus thingy is a concept car and doesn’t have to meet any safety standards. It’s just there to look good. The key with the front of the car is to get the pedestrian to go up onto the bonnet, not down under the front wheels. That’s why the Wrangler and Grenadier have those ugly knee level bumpers, to smash your legs out from under you and spin you onto the bonnet. The Jimmy is substantially smaller vehicle (with a poor ncap rating), so it may not need the same jutting out out bumper to keep the pedestrian from going under the front. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS |

Wasn't that as a result of them withdrawning totally from the market to balance emissions quota? Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Last edited by Supacat on 4th Mar 2021 8:48am. Edited 1 time in total |
