Apparently you need tyres with lots of silica in the compound not necessarily lots of chunky grip

Tyres recommended for use is snow will have the letters "M & S" on them, which means mud and snow. Land Rovers are an addiction. Toyotas are for quitters.

I have a set of AT tyres that I tun for everyday use but even with loads of tread they just looked at the snow and I sat there wheels slipping. Changed the tyres to a set of half worn Trac edges and it sailed up. I would like to go on the recommendation of what people have actually used and if they are any good.
When buying the other tyres the dealer said excellent in the snow, well they soon showed up that they were no use other than to polish the snow to a nice shine. Tried the BFG MTs but they were a little skitterish with big block rubber on the tyres. |

Snow looks like this
![]() ![]() Here in Norway most Defenders drive on Cooper Discoverer M+S. And you should have this mark stamped on the side of the tirewall. ![]() If you not find this, it's not a wintertire. The rubber are soft, and cling to every little corn and rift in the snow and ice. Besides, in Norway, Sweeden and Finland we have studs in our tires... MT and AT don't work very well in snow. Have you ever tried realf wintertires, you will feel the difference. Ronny S Sorry for my lousy English |

BFG AT's everytime. Went through the snow in the pyranees and no trouble. Sometimes you have to get lost to find yourself

Mine's fitted with BFG MTs. Would love to know what they're like in the white stuff?
First year of owning a LR and mine came fitted with these. Any thoughts? Love in this order; Burnley FC, Defender, Kids, Wife, LOL |

Last time I played in snow with my Navara fitted with BFG AT's it was like trying to drive a fish. Slipping and sliding all over the place

Ive driven with BFG AT's in the snow and ive got to say they proved to be fine.
I too have had the pleasure of driving both mud and snow with TRAC-EDGES and all i can say is ! "they dont make them like that anymore" ![]() The AT's were of the slightly narrower variety, i,m not sure exactly which size but maybe this helped with the snow driving, DEFENDER XS CSW 08 TONGA GREEN |
