England 2007 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Santorini Black
Let me down
Bare with me, Thursday afternoon I noticed a couple of young dairy heifers had infected eyes,(due to number of flies at present) so needed to bring them in for treatment. They were away from the main holding so took the mobile race behind the tractor and gathered the group up ,then sorted out the two for treatment.
Shot back to the farm and put the cattle box on the 110 hcpu and returned to the field to load up the calves . All going scarily to plan ,calves went straight into the box , jumped into the truck turned the key fired then stopped immediately, tried again and again with the same result . (Bu??er) Got the other half to bring out the spare keys without any improvement of the situation.
We unhitched the box and towed the 110 up to the edge of the road and carried on with the 90 . Rang Land Rover assist who turned up about an hour later and sorted it in about 10 mins
The symptoms were,
Not starting
Not flashing lights on blipping the key fob,
Not recognising either key fob,

The solution was to remove the F9 fuse underneath the steering wheel until the l e d imobiliser light lost all colour and he left it for about 10 minutes, after which it started without any problems.
He did say that removing the earth strap from the battery for about 10 minutes would achieve the same thing.

Sorry to rattle on but thought it may help someone in the same situation, this is a 65 plate 110.

Nick

Thanks Nick. This kind of thing is always good to know Thumbs Up

It would seem that this Land Rover repair is similar to most IT problems - "Have you tried rebooting, Sir?"

Hope your cattle are ok?

Joking apart, many alarm and starting problems can be sorted by the good old "re-boot" Disconnect the battery, leave for 10 minutes and start again Thumbs Up

The technician had a technical name for it, but basically it is a re _ boot.
Calves are doing well and the 90 enjoyed a bit of rough and dirty work, other half was not quite so keen on the afternoons excitement..

We've had heavy rain all day today so not many flies attacking our horses (thank goodness). Hope your calves are OK. Handy to know about the "re-boot". Thanks for the info. Defender 90XS SW
