After replacing the fuel pump, the fuel gauge readings are incorrect. When the gauge shows 1/2 tank, I can fill 55 litres. I take it that I managed to bend the rod to the float when fitting the pump.
Are there any measurements that I can check when I take out the pump again to fix the problem? Like distance between bottom of float to bottom of pump? |

Same thing happened to me . Fitted by a professional
I rarely run low on fuel so it was a long time after the pump replacement that I realised the problem. Quite common apparently to bend the rod. HR064 Hampshire and Berkshire 4x4 Response |

Yes gazman, I think you are right. I bought the pump long time ago and there was some confusion about the part No at that time and I also paid much less then what I expected.
Now when you mentioned it I also recall that the difference between the two is the complete fuel gauge sender unit on the pump. I saved the old pump so today I removed the sender unit from this and I will fit it to the new pump. Do you think this will work? |

Yes it will.... disco and defender "pumps" themselves are identical.
Just the float arm needs swapping over. And strangely enough; if you buy one new the disco one seems to be a tad cheaper. |

Yeah disco one is cheaper, I had the same when I helped our neighbour with his Td5 fuel pump. Disco one about £40 cheaper I seem to recall 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon
