12v lighter socket
Does anyone have any tricks to remove it without damage and ideally refit?

I know it is a real pain, and I want to remove it to paint and re-fit.
Which is of course an annoyance when you want to do such a job.

I have a feeling a replacement is around £22 Shocked

And I want to stick to genuine to keep the illumination and 12v socket. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

Thank-you.
Thumbs Up
I did search and read that before posting but it looks like removing and replacement doesn't seem that successful without damage. Confused

The Bluesea USB. looks good in design, but as far as I'm aware doesn't hav eillumination nor do I really want USB.
The 12v type is square, again with no illumination that I'm aware of an not keen on the flip cap.
But that is just me, I do like the original.

I'm pretty sure the LR P/N is getting on for £30 for a replacement. Rolling Eyes

May be my only way to go though.

*EDIT* Does anyone have the Genuine P/N for it? $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

It's only possible to remove once the centre console is off. Mine went back together after careful removal with no visible damage and works as before, including illumination.

It's probably a generic part that you could find in a scrapper from many types of car. We have a good "wander in and remove yourself" scrapyard in Aberdeen. Current Steeds:

They're standard across the Land Rover range, Rover cars use the same one but with amber illumination.

Just get one from a scrap Discovery or pre L322 Range rover. (L322's use a BMW one)

You can just chop the panel up to get it from the scrap car.

👍🏻 I often see the RR has the same.

No worries removing the centre dash as that is what I intend to do anyway.
It's just an annoyance pre pain wise so has to come out. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R
