Scanstrut in Exeter do a lot of marine USB electronics which have hard flip covers on. Maybe worth a call?

I've been searching for one of those too.
Those rubber caps tend to break eventually and then the socket gets full of gunk. The only spring loaded one I've found is the Carling one. http://www.mudstuff.co.uk/carling-usb-socket.html Quite pricey though! EDIT Just found this: https://www.waytekwire.com/item/11017/USB-Charger-12V-Dual-2-1A/ Maybe do a group buy? |

Thank you all for the responses.
I've already looked at scanstrut. Their USB sockets are non-circular so aren't exactly what I'm looking for. The waytekwire link is interesting but i see it's an American company without any uk distributors. However, I have sent an enquiry to ask whether they ship overseas. I will update this thread with their answer. |

The new Ford Rangers & EcoSports have them fitted as standard down here.
Perhaps try your local Ford dealer... Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. Douglas Adams 2012 2.2 Puma |

Can't see a round one in the Ford range here: -

Apologies for delay...
It was not a usb direct from Ford, but a 'home-made' one The chap took a usb like this & filed off the ridge... Click image to enlarge & then jammed it in the 12 volt socket Click image to enlarge So the cover closes without having to remove the usb Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. Ford South Africa are still to get back to me on the part number, if they ever will... Probably too busy putting out Kuga fires
Found these and Quirk Parts in Manchester seem to stock them... Also a square cover, which looks more 'rugged'... Nice find!
Done a quick search and those part numbers don't seem to be available in UK. You can get them off eBay from the states. Maybe they haven't landed in our silty back water yet |
