Ironic then that the UK made this a legal requirement some years ago and was then order to revoke the requirement since it was considered to be illegal under European law!
If I recall correctly there is some evidence to show that in countries where cars are required to have DRLs more motorcyclists die in accidents. What a farce! It woudl be funny if it didn't cost us so much to pay for these moron lawmakers. |

My work van has Day Time Running Lights. On a sunny day if you look at the vehicle head on the lights obscure the indicators they are that bright. Bit difficult when you are in the middle of the road stationary trying to turn right. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

i' a fan of DLRs. save me down dark shady country lanes a few times. especially when driving my old green Saab or in my previous Coniston green 90. they were perfectly camouflaged,
i'm in the habit of always putting my dips on in the 90 and with the switch covering the key i don't forget to switch them off. still thiking about the DRL LED side lights. BM52 |

I would be tempted to remove them
Last time i checked...i saw the cars this morning. Why not make everyone where hi-vis jackets when walking so we see them too Mike |

I’ve used them since the early 70s. They make pedestrians aware of you far more than they should. Also cars have more respect, my theory is that you seem bigger or nearer. At least they will help us to see those silly who don’t put their lights on when it’s dark.

I'm not a fan of compulsory daytime lighting, being a motorcyclist you need all the help you can get being made visible, so if every other car is driving around with its lights on motorcyclists (with their lights on) are less likely to be noticed
And, it is akin to the hi-viz vest thing, so everyone will have to be made to wear one as a pedestrian incase they bump into one another - by all means its your choice to do as you please with regard to lights/vests but no-one should be forced, the worlds gone mad i tell thee! I'm glad I dont work in a Health and Safety gone mad environment, and I say what I want when I want grrrrrrr...... 2005 TD5 90 Hard Top Beer 'n Sex 'n Chips 'n Gravy |

Know what you mean. I like DRLs but that's my view, each to their own, but i see your point of view, there again i have never been a motorcyclist and i may not appreciate what you say but everyone who has a licence should drive with care and attention and defensively. most seem to drive relying on the vehicle technology and braking etc to keep them on the road. perhaps we should start a Grumpy Old Man LR Club Forum!
