My S2a has had an intermittent problem for quite some time. Engine would run sweetly most of the time, and had plenty of power (for a 2.25 petrol Landy) When it got hot, it would start to idle roughly, and would cut out and become difficult to restart.
Anyway, long story short, when it ran badly, there would be petrol dripping from the emulsion tube in the carburettor Venturi. Stripped carb and found one of the black plastic floats sloshed when shaken. It was full of petrol! Got a replacement float, and it's running perfectly! It's got a Zenith 361v fitted instead of the original Solex. 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV 1966 S2a 109 aka Betsy 1968 S2a 88 aka Bob 2014 Jaaaag F Type 3.0 Supercharged. |
