Also worth pulling the whole inlet manifold off and giving it a good clean, took me less than an hour to strip mine off, clean it and refit. With the addition of a Provent 200 the inlet is still almost spotless!

Not being massively mechanical minded is there a step by step guide you could share for cleaning map sensor with pics

Inlet manifold is the big tubular silvery thing on the left of the engine
Map sensor is in the middle of the inlet manifold with wires going to it Undo the two bolts - 8mm spanner I think Remove sensor Clean Replace Last edited by bankz5152 on 3rd Apr 2017 11:39am. Edited 1 time in total |

No gasket, there is a rubber O ring on the sensor but it should stay on the sensor and behave itself!

A Nanocom check of mine at the weekend showed no variance in the MAF sensor signal with RPM. Despite this it goes like a rocket - especially above 2000RPM. I doubt that a clean will fix mine but I'll be giving it a try later.

there is a difference between the MAF (Mass air flow) and MAP (Manifold Air Pressure) Roel

A thoughts. Did you 100+mile drive this morning and I noticed for the last hour or so the ultraguage was showing an inlet temp of -3c. It did fluctuate a little and got to 2c?
It appears to be back to normal now - thoughts please? Cheers. |

Check for a short circuit or probably some damaged wires. Lower resistance means lower temperature. And this can be result of low temperature or a short circuit. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "BlufĂnek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo
