It's very easy to inhibit or jam the lock signal from the fob, and a popular technique for stealing vehicles is (apparently) to inhibit the lock signal so that when the owner casually walks off pressing the plip to lock the car, the car doesn't actually lock. The crims can then get into the car, access the OBD socket, and programme a key, plip, or whatever that particular car needs, and drive off in it.

It is extremely important with any remote locking vehicle that you actually make sure it has locked properly before you walk away. It is amazing how casual many people are about this. Shocked

I dealt with the Retainagroup over the phone (Sales No.) they 'tailored' their Vehicle Kit to my requirements
(for a minimal extra charge) and it was posted out to me.

I was really impressed with the Glass Etching, I expected it to be 'so-so' as this is a DIY kit, I had my windows on a previous Defender 'etched' which was essentially a fine 'bead blasting' technique, so more engraving than etching, (this was very good) but this Chemical etching was super crisp, being careful and keeping everything scrupulously clean gave a very good result.

I got one of these kits yesterday as our local police force are giving them away to Defender owners who live in the area. The police chap who is organising it did all the labels and registration but didn't do the glass etching as he said he didn't want to be held responsible if he cocked it up Laughing So I have that to do. Hopefully we get a reasonably dry day soon so I can have a go and hopefully I wont cock it up Confused Cheers Ian

I remember reading an article about stolen British vehicles ending up in Uganda to be dismantled. A wide range of vehicles was found worth more than 1 million pounds.

Here is the piece if you want to read it.

With stolen Defender or Defender parts going abroad there is little the UK Defender population can do.

However with stolen Defender parts in the UK the UK Defender population can control the thieving scum bags.

The thieving scumbags would NOT steal Defenders or strip parts of Defenders if there were not willing purchasers of the stolen parts.

Brendan did the police ever resolve the theft of the parts stolen from you? For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..
