I won't bore you with the problems some of the people I know that drive the hybrid. The saggy leather will be the least of your problems. 😂

I've been a LR person since the 70's - umpteen Series, 90's, 110's, Defenders' RR, Disco and 1 x Freelander you name it. Last year I got fed up with the dwindling number of proficient local LR dealers, variable - and sometimes repeated - warranty rectification etc so chopped in the last sub 12,000 mile 110 XS USW I'd had since new and took advantage of the fleet rate offered by one of my member organisations along with additional discount offered my local dealer and bought a new 3.2 Ranger auto. I have yet to feel handicapped, nor short of load or people space. For a commercial vehicle it's quite refined and tows a dream, I have no complaints so far - touch wood, fingers crossed etc. Steve. Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW. [Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc] http://forums.lr4x4.com I used to be Miserable ...but now I'm ecstatic. “I always wanted a Humvee”
I went to the London Motor Show in 2005 to order one of the last H2s, and fell in love with a bright yellow one. The “salesman” peed me off by by saying there’d be no warranty, no parts back-up, they’d arrange a personal import on my behalf. I could do that myself. Disappointed and by now a little drunk, I staggered onto the Morgan stand and ordered a new Plus 4 4-seater… Back to the plot, I no longer need the seating capacity or towing ability of my Defender - and it needs washing - I’d cheerfully get rid of it tomorrow. But the only other new vehicle that appeals is a Jeep Wrangler 2-door. However, my understanding is that they no longer come with a soft-top, so no advantage. And the price! For the time being then, I’ll stick with my truck; at least it comes in handy for taking rubbish to the tip… Peter |

Another option that's appeared on my radar - Skoda Superb estate car (4x4 or 2wd), fast, economical and can tow 1800Kg, also a lot of car for the money. http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/

Apologies for the language, what about oldish Land Cruiser, even Nissan Patrol 3.0 or Pathfinder, Lexus RX, all pretty sure you will get wherever you want to go.
As we had 2 English Mastiffs totaling about 25 stone of dog, we brought a Hyundai i800 took out middle row of seats, its cavernous. It was "Tin Tent club" best tow car in 2008, can tug along 2300kg braked with 392Nm of torque. Now they are used all over Africa as buses, pretty reliable and no chance of getting nicked, but you will lose your street cred. Jumped ship to reliability - Mitsubishi L200 Puma 90 XS - Sold D3 - 2.7 S x2 (both Sold) Freelander 2 HSE - Sold Freelander 1 - Sold Disco 2 - Sold |

“Why not keep it, if it gets nicked it gets nicked...”
Absolutely! Where do you stop: can’t own a decent vehicle ‘cos it might get nicked, can’t have a large-screen tv ‘cos you might be burgled, can’t wear nice clothes ‘cos someone might spill a pint on them, can’t have a hot blonde wife ‘cos she might have an affair with her gym instructor? Come to think of it… Peter |

Because having one nicked would raise five vehicle insurance policies which i am on. Not to mention me having to hunt down people and kill them, which takes time. V8 90...WIP |

I do the same, I bought a Jazz as a runabout and what an excellent car it turned out to be. Like you parked across the Defender as a block, although, I would be just as sorry to have the Jazz stolen as the Defender now. 1983 Series 3 Pick up in Marine Blue 1967 Morris Traveller 1966 Morris Convertible 2012 VW T5 Camper Quod Abundat Non Obstat. |

And....Forgot...my wife has just bought a Polo as she is fed up with me using the Jazz as a runabout. Nicely blocks in the Jazz which blocks the Defender which blocks the Camper which blocks Traveller which blocks the 80" etc etc. Hard for someone to steal , but getting Bloody hard to use!!! 1983 Series 3 Pick up in Marine Blue
