I think itunes is single handedly the reason why so many people torrent and illegally download music because they make it such a difficult and annoying process that its easer to say eff it and download it all for free and store it as mp3 files on as many devices as you want and move it around as easily as you want.

Never had problems with iTunes, but switched to Spotify. Not completely free if you want to do without the adverts, but not expensive either. I have a selection of songs I can still play if I don't have internet on the move.
