I am about to change a leaky fuel tank on a 200TDi a one hole tank, with a more recent two hole tank. At present the fuel sender pipe and the fuel level unit are combined and fit in the single top of the tank hole. On the two hole tank, the setup is fuel sender pipe fitted to the front hole and the fuel level unit to the rear hole.
What I need to know is. On the fuel sender fitted at present there are three wire contacts a black which I take as earth, a white and grey wire and a black and green wire. Present fuel sender for one hole tank part number PRC4262 Sender unit for two hole tank part number STC1139 I need to know when a get the more recent fuel sender unit will this have the same three contacts that need to be contacted to the same three existing wires or is the wiring configuration different For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at.. http://www.youtube.com/user/conwy1 |

As no one replied to this thread
I fitted the new tank today and I can say there is very little difference in the one whole fuel sender to the more recent two hole fuel sender. The only difference is the earth connector has larger connector; the other two wires are the same. The gauge works fine including the low fuel warning light. So if anyone is fitting a 90 side later tank to a Defender its more or less a straight swap. Fuel return is in the same place, as are the filling pipe, the only thing you need is a new fuel pipe and fuel sender and a larger earth connector. Easy job really although it was first blood to the Defender so I now have skinned knuckles.
