At BAS we are doing some tests on various puma components to clarify failure rates, and if any, contributing to drivability or economy issues as part of our ongoing developement of which we are already renowned for.
Infact its generally us who do the monkey work and developement which then gets copyed by many others or handed to on a plate after we have done the hard work and expencive bits I know this test is small in comarison to some done by EG K&N for example, but im no where as big a company as they are so the scale needs to be reflected, though this will be extended or made larger if i feel needed. I already waste 30-40k per year on developement so i need to draw a line somewhere. We have already started with a few other Puma components standard and modifyed which already have very, very interesting resullts which ill bring up in other threads when relevent later, but for now we are starting the new Maf project on the Puma. As part of the tests we need various cars air flow meters that have had various real life conditions thrown at them throughout their lifes, It no good us starting with a single air flow meter from one car the tests would take for ever to get any real answers from. Here is what im offering FREE with some basic conditions. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have 10 brand new genuine landrover Air Flow meters to give away for FREE to BAS remap owners as part of my tests. Im offering them to my UK customers first simply because if their is a benifit to gain from fitting a new maf because theirs is possiibly faulty id like one of my customers to benefit first as part of the support i give to my customers. Sorry i hope this does not cause offence to others. if i dont get whats needed ill increase to non Uk and non bas customers. NOTE, i state UK for postage cost reasons. I will send out as said a new maf to the customer totally FREE and all i want in return if your old maf sending back to me at your cost with the form below filled in of which ill send you a copy in paper form. Easy. http://www.defender2.co.uk/gallery/albums/...rm%202.pdf I want the information on the form to be as accurate as possibile to give me an understanding of the life of your maf. I would also like to know after fitting the new maf has it made any difference to your car or not ! The answers given will be calcullated against your old unit to start the calcualtion process of failure and effect. I would like if possibile a range of maf's from various cars ranging from 2007 to 2009/10, id also like some of them to be from modifyed cars as well as standard cars with some good milage covered. It would be perfect to get some from cars with any drivability or economy issues. Of course one from a 2010/11 car with 2k or very low miles on is no good what so ever as the failure rate will be very low so please only offer if your car has some sort driving history or aftermarket modifications done and has been for some miles. So do we have any takers ? If you want to post here or pm for security i dont mind which. Also, if anyone already has any dead maf's kicking arround id be a taker if they were going free Pete Last edited by bell-auto-services on 17th Feb 2011 11:21pm. Edited 3 times in total |

Pete,
I watch your continuing threads on development with interest! Having shelled out a long time ago for an Autologic tune As you are aware from history I had an incompatibility problem with a Land Rover software upgrade. That has all been sorted and I simply could not justify another expenditure on your own map! I ham happy with the Autologic one as it gives me great performance but regrettably is non switchable! As I am soon out of warranty it will no longer be of any concern! As stated I find your developments interesting and look forward to your success in maybe some 'stand-alone' improvements that can be incorporated by those of us that do not have BAS maps! Keep up the good work! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

Thank you K9F for your interest in the developement process we are working on, i hope it may show some interesting results.
Ive also been doing some reading about your car and its modifications etc and im willing if you wish to take part to send you also a FREE maf as i know of the modifications to your car so yours is an exception. If you wish to publiclly take part you can join at the top of the thread and pm me your address. I cant remember if you were also part of the EGR blank developement thread i made back in June 2008 well before some of the well known thread recking members joined the forum where i gave away then some free blanking plates for the test results returned in exchange ? http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic358.ht...r+blanking Pete Last edited by bell-auto-services on 18th Feb 2011 4:42pm. Pete is this any use? 16,000 mile 110 08my with a twisted remap and safari rai, never had any faults and easily returns an average 28mpg.
I'm not a BAS costumer yet but I'm looking to remap the SVX if the forum offer still applies? Yes Pete, I had a set of blanks from Robofarmer as again I was too slow off the mark for 'a freebie' but despite paying the blanks in my view are a valued addition! Other modifications include Autologic Map, Griffin Stainless Exhaust with decat and no backbox, Safari Snorkel and ITG Filter running with a 10mm EGR Valve blank...must say it 'goes like stink' sounds lovely but not obtrusive and has a continues to serve me very well indeed with 30k on the clock, no leaks, original running gear including gearbox and clutch which makes K9 'a very happy Land Rover chappie!!'
Have registered interest thank you and look forward to future developments emerging from your corner! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |
