300tdi main wiring looms - AMR3483 vs AMR4082

Hi,

A bit specific this one. The main loom in my car is part no AMR3483.

Autosparks don't list that - and their system shows AMR4082. But I can't find AMR4082 on any of the parts diagrams or LR Cat.

Can anyone shed any light on the differences between these - if any?

AMR3483 is a 95-only model year loom. The big change came during 1996 when EGR and alarms were added, so it's likely that there were only subtle changes, perhaps to connectors.

2007 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 HT Aintree Green

It’s years now since I messed with 300tdis but I did break a lot of them up ten or so years ago, my memory is a bit faded now but at the start there was a hi line and low line loom available, low line just had provision for power feed for optional radio, but still included rear wash wipe wiring. Hi line had DIN connectors for radio, front speaker wiring and was what was fitted to county. Heated rear window was a plug in loom for the low line. No EGR system.

In late 94 looms as above but the connectors for the steering column switchgear changed from the old style multi bullet plugs to the multipin connectors used through to end of defender production.

Later on EGR wiring was incorporated I think when fog light relay was fitted.

Later still Lucas AS10 alarm unit / immobiliser fitted. I think stereo DIN plugs were now standard, along with heated rear window wiring in loom not separate add on. OBD port now fitted.

I have a crate of 300tdi looms I’ll have to dig out and stick on eBay.

Guys, thanks very much indeed for those replies.

Having a "1995 model year only" loom certainly helps to explain why Autosparks had a gap in their system. Another complicating factor is probably that my car - on a 1994 plate - must have been one of the early 300s in a Defender.

So, I've got a 1994 car, with a "1995 model year only loom." The sticker actually says:

Rists Ltd
AMR3483
Mod B
Issue A + Dev

....which certainly does suggests to me that there were a lot of changes being made at that time.

I know it's a low-line loom. It was a basic spec station wagon, and I had to splice in new wiring for my radio when I first fitted that about 17 years ago! It also has the old 'rubber bullet' connectors for the column switchgear; but multiplugs for the clocks and dash.

But even before my loom arrives, that picture of AMR4082 will allow me to do a comparison.
