VCV change.. Don't know what all the moaning is about!!
Evening all,
Got fed up with the idle when engine is cold hunting and surging/ struggling to run smoothly, so decided to buy a new vcv for the fuel pump.
Paid £50 on eBay, turned up in a Citroen box but it fitted just the same! Took me about 10 minutes to remove the old one, just used a small Allen key to crack the two bolts off then did the rest by hand with a small driver and the 5mm Allen head on.
Took off the electric plug off the back of it, out the old one comes.
Took the new one out the box, put the new gasket and O ring in place, pushed it back into the pump, it sat nice and snug making sure O ring is in nicely and nothing it caught up.
Two bolts straight back in, electric connector back on and 10-15 minutes later I was done!
Uninstalled the BAS Re-map file, took it for a 10 minute drive to get the engine up to 75 degrees. (For the diagnostic programming) and also checking no leaks from the pump.
Then did the Pump Re-learn 2 minutes, Engine Pilot correction learning procedure 5 minutes.
Re install the BAS re map 2 minutes,
Around an hour later due to a tea break Job done!!

Hi. I want to do the pilot relearn after the vcv change. But need to get the injector coding. My be this is a stupid question.is it same coding for all 2.4 puma if so what are the four codes? Cheers.

The codes are unique to you vehicle but unless you change an injector or the ECM you shouldn't need them. For a VCV change you don't need to do an injector relearn, just the pump.

Hi Blackwolf. Yes I did the pump relearn then many of the problems solved but still get the engine clatter when the engine is warm. So I thought of doing it and see. Any idea? Cheers Thumbs Up

Have you done the pilot correction learning procedure as well?
Even with the fuel pump learn and pilot correction not "synced" the engine should not be clattering. Suspect you have further issues than just the vcv, injector knock?? Maybe a new set of injectors or get yours tested?

Yes I have done pump relearn after vcv changed. But not the pilot correction yet. I had to romove all the four injectors long time ago to replace the copper washers and cleaned and fitted them back. But never done a pilot correction.

Today I managed to read the 16 digit injector codes in my puma and the first three found to be identical. I hope I read them correctly. These are the values I got.
1st injector F4000000000000F4
2nd injector F4000000000000F4
3rd incjector F4000000000000F4
4th incjector F400000C00000BF3

Can this be possible?
