Replace Springs & Shocks?

My Defender is a 2013, with a whisker under 40k miles on the clock.

As per my previous thread, I need to drop it a little to get it into the garage. I'm not looking to make the ride harsher or turn it into a low-rider but I'm also not willing to look at solutions like letting air out of the tyres or using weights to get it in and out of the garage (it makes it a pain and as I garage it overnight is inconvenient).

The Alive comfort springs are still out of stock and will be until the beginning of August, which has got me looking at other options.

Urban Truck have 2" lowering progressive springs but I haven't been able to find any reviews of them and, personally, I think a 2" drop is too much.

JE Engineering do 30mm drop springs (which is approx. 1.2") and this is closer to what I'm looking for.

However, my question is, and having read threads on here where peoples trucks actually didn't sit lower after using 'lowering' springs: am I better to replace both springs and shocks at the same time? I'd assume 4-year old, 40k miles, isn't a lot for the standard shocks but as I've got to remove them to get the new springs on, should I swap them out for something designed to work with the lowering springs (JE use FOX).

Would appreciate hearing peoples take on this. The last thing I want is to fit springs and still not be able to get the 90 into the garage or have an issue with the shocks and need to strip the springs back out!

I have ürban truck 2 inch lowering springs and they're great! Very comfortable ride when coupled with bilstien dampers. Here is a picture for ride height reference

Dampers for lowered springs aren't normally any different other than being shorter. If you lower the vehicle too much with standard dampers, there is a risk the dampers will bottom out on full bump. But that's on normal road cars, given the Defenders standard axle articulation it shouldn't be an issue with standard dampers.

You could always remove the roof and just fold the screen down for going into the garage.

Do you have the Bilstein B6 fitted?

Also have you also upgraded the anti roll bars?

Yeah Bilstein B6 dampers with standard front anti roll bar on superpro bushes and a 1inch rear bar on custom solid self lubricating bushes.

It handles rather well for a defender
