I did it as per the Haynes manual and was fine although for the most part you can sort of see what bits need to come off to get the head off. The Haynes helps with what order to do things in.
IIRC it says to remove the exhaust manifold and turbo at the downpipe, I found this wasn't necessary and could easily push it out of the way enough to get the head off.
Otherwise it should be a fairly straightforward job unless you get some particularly nasty bolts on the manifolds
