950, or maybe 975 comes to mind. Regardless though, the reason Land Rover never offered them on the 130 is that they're not rated for the GVW.

As far as I know, Blindos are the only Land Rover alloy that would be up to the job but there may be aftermarket wheels that would also do. Darren

I don't think Blindos are offered by Land Rover. They are as aftermarket as any. You could also consider the Evo Corse version (sold in UK as Terrafirma Dakar), which are often used by UK military WMIK in place of Blindos? Both look suitably purposeful and are slightly less likely to give you a hernia when fitting them...

You might be right about the Blindos. I know they are specced for specialist military stuff (WIMK, etc) but I guess even those conversions are 'aftermarket'. I guess they're Land Rover approved though, as those sorts of conversion rarely happen in isolation. Darren

It's way more than that, I think around 1750kg or 1800kg per wheel, otherwise you couldn't run them on a 90, let alone a 110.

Usually each wheel's load rating will be around the same as the gross axle weight of the stongest axle on the vehicle, hence the use of "Wolf" steels, load rating 2200kg, on the 130 and HD 110 versions (ie the 3500kg GVW vehicles). The 3040kg GVW vehicles (ie standard 110) can run Boosts.

I have never actually found the official load rating for a Boost, however.

I'm sure you're right when allowing for a safety factor, but I've seen Tornado (Freestyle) wheels that are stamped 850kg on the inside. The published load ratings for Blindos are 1550, which suggests that typically, load ratings are not given in relation to total axle weight. Darren

Yes, you're probably right about them being LR approved, although the later WMIKs are not exactly "normal" LR as they have auto boxes and 2.8 TDI motors ... without even considering the honking great gun on top ... Shocked

Definitely top-notch wheels either way Thumbs Up

I only went for the Dakar's because a set came up (very) locally - didn't even need to use surfaced roads - at an excellent price Very Happy

I think you get the max axle weight from the vin tag and then half it for each wheel.

You're right, I've looked up the figures I have (which I should have done before posting above of course) and find the following:-

Blindos: 1550kg

Defender HD steel ("Wolf"), tube type, ANR5593: 2200kg
Defender HD steel ("Wolf"), tubeless type, ANR4583: 2200kg

Defender steel, tube type, NRC7578: 1241kg
Defender steel, tubeless type, ANR4636: 1241kg

Defender 130 (early) (Rapier, Snatch 110), ANR1534: 1372kg

Disco 1 steel, NTC5193: 1340kg

Although I have a considerable amount of information about just about every type of OE wheel used on every type of Landrover, these are the only load ratings I have been able to pin down.

On this basis I would expect a Boost or a Deep Dish to be around the 1200kg mark.

As I said above, LR never offered them on the 130 as they're not up to the job. I'm sure I've seen somewhere that they're rated at 9 hundred and something but I can't find the reference now Confused Darren
