It is difficult to make it run without the DPF, due to the ECM software.

I don't believe so, but you'd have to talk to one of the tuning experts to be sure. I wouldn't be surprised if you had to change to ECM, and you WILL fail the MOT.

Replace for MOT, then back on the hoist and make with the spanners! Reprogram or replace ECU !
