Belgium 2011 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 X-Tech LE Nara Bronze
Hot hot differential casing
Changed my diff oil. After a 40mile drive front gets warm, but back gets very hot. So hot you can't touch it more then a few seconds. Is this normal. Bearings seem normal, so it's not that.

They do get quite hot it's fairly normal. However I'd check the level see if it is ok. Mind you everything gets hot out here Very Happy they reckon centre spiral doesn't get as hot as hypoid though! Have you got one of those infra red thermometer non contact jobs for a comparison.
