Not a specialist but:
- American sizes (flotation sizes) use 15" to have more rubber and more bulge. That's a pro and a con, depending on circumstances. - metric sizes generally have a more hd construction, also meaning a stiffer ride. - 305/70r16 is the closest metric size to 33x12.5r15 - 12.5 or 315 tyres go well on 8" wheels - 255/85r16 tend to be oversized 33s, closer to 33,5 (could be sold as 34s), while most 33x12.5r15 are quite undersized, closer to 32. You'll lose some height - for a given tyre size, a narrow rim will give you better tyre retention at low pressures, a wider rim better flotation Hope this helps |
