Hi all,
I'm looking to replace my existing windscreen with a heated one, as we've hit chilly minus temps here in Canberra, Australia. Therefore, I'm keen to know what's the best option, e.g. Land Rover, OEM or after market? From looking around original Land Rover ones are expensive but happy to go for it's the best option. Also, some windscreens come tinted (green?). I'm sure that the windscreen on my D90 is not tinted but can someone point out if there's any advantage with a tinted one? Cheers, Tim |

In the Uk tinted and clear are the same price, I have an aftermarket 3 point connection one in my 90 and its brilliant, Wife's 90 has a two point connection and its just as good.
The differences are a 3 point has two heating elements the 2 point has one. I paid £180 for the glass inc fitting in mine and £140 for the wife's but fitted it myself fit a newnew rubber seal. wired it in myself PS On a budget its a better upgrade than heated seats |

Tinted is what used to be called "Sundym" which was the brand name used for it by Triplex (Pilkington), it basically takes the sharp edge off the sun coming through the glass. In Australia you'll want tinted i would imagine. It's only a very faint tint, you usually only notice it on a cold morning when the glass is fogged up and looks green. If you want to check your existing glass. just get a sheet of white paper and hold against it while you look through the glass, if it still looks white, you don't have tinted glass. Original Land Rover ones are Pilkington - so i would but Pilkington over genuine Land Rover, much cheaper, same glass. |
