Have a look at what the service sheet says, they have 1 sheet for all sevices and it says what should be done. Then on top of that it says what should be done that is not covered e.g. Brake fluid replacement. Russell

I've just had my 64 plate serviced today by Landranger. Full service. £264. Really nice knowledgeable chaps. Look around. Main dealers take the proverbial.

I would go to an independent. That cost is crazy.

That's about the same as I paid at the Main Dealers (I might have paid a wee more).
It is a lot of money for what is actually done on a service. |

Hello neil3728
Completely doable yourself (and you appear to have 'form' with the 110... ) Buying all the bits...(everything)...OEM / Original Spec' Service Parts, and all Oils (at top spec') will be around £250 / depending on source) This will Service everything (beyond a typical Main B Service) Gearbox / Transferbox, Differentials, Engine Coolant etc Here is 2.4 Service Sheet...the 2.2 will be very similar... Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge A good (local to you) Independent is also really worth finding... Good Luck SKIP https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic83242.html |

I service my own so I know it's done right.
It's a keeper though, and it came without service history so no point stating one now. You on the other hand may want to sell down the line and may be paying for the lack of genuine service history in resale. Despite these points that amount is crazy money... Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants... |

Providing it's out of warranty, then you can self service it's not difficult. However it may be worth going to an independent who might be able to spot potention problems before they become a problem, it also means you have an independent service history should you be involved in an accident.
I do mine myself, use branded filters, they don't have to be genuine ones. Mann filters are excellent. |

Prent1 I'm not sure about local to you (similar area to me, I had my 2015 Puma done at Beadles Sidcup last year which broke my heart!) I've been looking around for this year and wondered about the thatched garage in Lewes, their website talks a good game, don't know if anyone on here in the Sussex area have used them? Hi
For independent servicing in Kent you could try Gigglepin 4x4 just outside Sevenoaks off the A21,they know their way around Defenders. If you are still under warranty, they use all genuine parts and you get a VAT receipt but you still need to get a dealer to do the body inspection! |

Paying a high price as quoted here would be ok if the dealer mechanic would follow the maintenance sheet in detail.
But even my Swiss dealer has never lubricated the door hinges at a service. Luckily I have the ACF-50 ready for that myself. Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |

S'ok I've just answered my own question, their website says £336 inc vat (a bit out of date I think) just checked back through my emails and I paid £385 at Beadles Land Rover in Sidcup last year so not that bad after all!
Prent1 maybe try Beadles then, ask for Karlee she did something with the price because I asked, which is always a good thing! And they gave me a disco sport to drive about in, cant have it all ways I suppose!! The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results.
