Shakier as I go above 60 km/h

Hi I recently posted thinking it was my wheel bearings or wheel balancing. It still could be. I tried driving it again today and this is what I noticed. As I increase my speed while it is "in gear" it gets very shakey after about 60km/h and more so the more I hold down the gas pedal. As I let go of the accelerator pedal it does not shake as much.
Also, if I'm going that speed and I take the car out of gear or clutch in.. it doesnt shake much. Would this eliminate Wheel bearing issues?

I also notice a bit of a whining noise sometimes when I start moving the car from stop.

Could be a seized prop shaft UJ. Try removing the front prop, engaging diff lock and see if it cures it. If so, you've narrowed it down. Darren

2000 Defender 90 Td5 Heritage LE Bronze Green

Could be wheel balance and panhard bushes. Swap one of your wheels off the back on to the front. see if you get any change.

Mine had a front wheel out of balance which would start a light wobble. Then as speed increased further the play in the panhard bushes made things very shaky. New bushes and wheel swap around solved my issue.

Are there any balancing weights on any of the drive shafts on these vehicles? A friend of mine suggested that could be an issue too.

^^^^ This was a suggestion I was thinking of making too. I'd imagine if it was it'd be shakier in lower speeds and moving off. Turning into a vibration and rumble at higher speeds. Suppose it's possible it's an issue with the UJ too, if you are really un-lucky possibly both KEEP CALM AND Drill ON

The props do have balancing weights and have to be in series. I would lean towards a seized or shot UJ rather than a lost weight, although that is possible. I think you'd be more likely to lose a wheel weight though.

Rule of thumb on where to start investigating when I was growing up.....

Vibrations centred around 80km/h are most likely driveshaft related. Driveshaft out of balance , phase or bent.
Vibrations more pronounced around 120km/h are most like wheel related. Weights, bent rim, etc...

Mind you this was for normal cars with normal/average gearing and normal wheel sizes.

Assuming it is the U Joint, which part number is it?

My VIN Number is :

XA17------
It's a 1999 TD5. I cant figure out which part number it is, there isnt a definitive part number wherever I look. Would i be safe to assume it's TVC100010?

The part numbers are different but the size is the same on all Defenders, same as RRC and DIs as well. That number works, get GKN or Timken or a good brand. Don't get Sh*^part...
