I can't give a definitive guaranteed answer.
But I'm pretty sure it's the rear that is 2 pin only. No Guts, No Glory. 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

Front is two gear on 90s, and most 110s and 130s it seems. In theory post c.2010 all LWB fronts should be four gear but many are still two.
Reats on 90s are two gear Rover pattern, on 110 and 130 four gear P38. Front diff can be identified as 2 or 4 by looking through filler hole. |

Thanks blackwolf- that most likely explains the issue.
Amongst other conflicting guidance Ashcroft are saying it's 2 pin front and I should upgrade but my local LR me hanic who has worked land rovers all his life is saying 4 pin. He changed the oil at last service too so maybe he's had a look in. I'll ask him to check at next service. James |

As black wolf says above.
10my onwards 110 fronts were all meant to be 4 pin. Although on stripping my oct 10 110 had a two pin! Likewise the 110s at work, 13 14 plate were also a mix front. Cheers James 110 2012 XS Utility 130 2011 M57 bespoke Camper 90 2010 Hardtop 90 M57 1988 Hardtop |

You'll know it't a two gear diff when it disintegrates, but that is usually a bit late!
Fit an Ashcroft ATB and put an end to your worries. When I did mine it was also cheaper than a reconditioned four gear diff from LR. |

Have been looking at the Ashcroft LSD. Ashcroft saying they are t any stronger than the 4-pin std diff assuming my I have one.
But how do they drive? Am going to be putting about 430bhp and twice the torque through them shortly so am thinking an lsd might help with traction but have heard it makes the car less nice to drive and grabby? Interested in your take on tem BO Man. Thanks James |

i would fit an ashcrfot locker then for that Nm/bhp irresepctive of whether you plumb it in. might want to peg diffs too and assume CV shafts already on the list? Cheers

James, not sure if you've seen this thread on the LSD, but seems to cover most views http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic13545.html?highlight=lsd

Bristol 90XS (James) I agree with JST using lockers rather than LSDs for that much BHP, however for the record, the Ashcroft LSDs make virtually no difference to the defender "driving experience", I use mine on and off road, and on wet grassy slopes you can feel the LSDs working.

Would I be right in thinking you'd only ever want full lockers off-road? Therefore if (and apologies James if I'm making the incorrect assumption) this is a road biased V8 Defender then LSD would surely be the better option? James

for strength i believe the locker is better for longevity. but yes only really off road usage. although rear could be used to put power down. you just need to control it.
i have air lockers in mine front and rear. the rear being the hypoid diff from Dave A crown wheel/pinion is much better than stock before you even look at the centres. Cheers James 110 2012 XS Utility 130 2011 M57 bespoke Camper 90 2010 Hardtop 90 M57 1988 Hardtop |

I'm guessing that'll be more than a stage 1 or 2 remap then |
