After a chat with John [JSG] I switched to LV last year and saved quite a bit on my renewal quote from NFU - who I had been with for many years. As regards your other observation, it's amazing the difference a few months have made Steve. Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW. [Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc] http://forums.lr4x4.com I used to be Miserable ...but now I'm ecstatic. |

Same issue I had with NFU, now with LV. NFU advised that the Defender had been reclassified as a car and that is why premiums had rocketed. Mine is standard with dealer options - tow bar, A bar etc but the TR 90 I had before had mods inc, engine chip, bigger intercooler, sports exhaust, winch etc and they didn't charge me any extra. They listed it as winch and engine modifications and seemed quite happy as long as I told them what it had done. John http://www.hampshire4x4response.co.uk 2011 Tdci 110 CSW XS |

i to used the nfu for my landrover insurance for a lot of years they covered my 200tdi then my td5 for business use as a farmer untill two years ago my insurance increased by 80 % for no reason, complained no result so i insured through fj my premium was back to where i was with the nfu great, next thing aug last year said td5 nicked, took 8 weeks to get payed out but i was happy withe the settlement. So went and bought myself a 90 puma rung fj to insure it and they refused so went back to nfu explained the situation loss of truck and loss of two years no claims they then came up with a quote of over a thousand pounds,so now insured with n and p for 600 pounds, sorry for the long post,i am now reviewing all our policies with the nfu.

Phone several different local NFU offices.
I guarantee you'll get a different price from each of them. Chose the cheapest one. They are excellent if you ever need to make a claim or have one made against you. |
