Return of the loan car
Well tomorrow I get to collect my defender from the main dealers after a service and warranty work. The loan car has been amazing, so comfortable, auto box, every toy under the sun on board its been an amazing drive, over 600 miles of pure pleasure....am I going to miss it.....Very much so.....

Youthful enthusiasm I think on Proctas part JST. The next loan car is the Range rover so it will be returned washed and fuelled tomorrow because I am very fortunate with the main dealer I use and they look after me Procta Thumbs Up 2015 HT XS 90

That would tempt me to main dealer service! Almost.... I still haven't been in one yet, but already like them despite what everyone seem to say! James

Jow240725 im very lucky with my main dealers " Roger Youngs" they loan me some amazing cars when my defenders go in in for service or warranty work and they are a pleasure to deal with. The Discovery 5 is fab but the offset rear number plate gets my OCD everytime I look at it Laughing 2015 HT XS 90

Well I'm going to be different - I quite like the offset number plate. But there again I like the way that Alfa Romeos front plates are offset. What sends my OCD into overdrive is a number plate that isn't straight. Embarassed Defender 90XS SW

Don't be gentle...it's a rental!

I have my front plates offset...but I agree with Discomog, wonky plates are a 'fail' ....especially on new cars that have been screwed on !!

The rear plate on the new disco, Suli??? The one on your Defender must drive you nuts too Laughing

The rear plate on the new Discovery looks wrong because it's the wrong shape Wink Darren

To my eye it is a revoltingly ugly car, almost reminiscent of the bad old days of Japanese car design. The rear end styling is also bizarre, since the offset number plate is pointless.

I am sure it is a delight to drive, and doubtless looks at its best when you are inside looking out.

Stylistically I thing that the apogee of the Discovery was the Disco 2, which was stylish, distinctive, and imaginative. It has been steadily downhill since.

I think sat inside (with the right spec its nice)

Outside its bland and the offset number plate would annoy me given I See no point its not in the middle?, have they done this to be the main clue your driving a £45K + car rather than a £30K sport? or to hark back to the old model, either way pointless..

I did spec one up and it got very pricey very quickly.... not imho what I would go for.

Well I'm off to our local dealer next week for the launch of the Velar. It'll be interesting to know what you "stick in the muds" think of the Velar. Whistle Defender 90XS SW

The Velar looks quite nice, but then it has the advantage of not trying to trade on the name of its' predecessors like the Discovery. The Velar name is just marketing. Darren

We followed a couple of Velars onto the euro tunnel last week. They look pretty good to me and very much within the brand format that LR seem to be following nowadays, but in a good way. IMHO the Disco Sport is the best of the recent releases, followed by the Velar. D5 is a fail, particularly when you compare to those fantastic, purposeful looks of the 3 and 4. Won't stop it selling though, I'm sure.
