I think you need an ISO connector...
Look here: http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic29061....t+2014+iso I put the mic on the left side of the cluster, by the drivers side air vent, helps with wind noise and will also pick up a passengers voice. Hi,
Before you buy a new lead, follow the wires out of the back of the two Plugs in the dash you may find they are plugged into a grey plug that the alpine one will plug directly into. |

Hello
I'm a bit lost, my leads at the back do not match the radios single one, so I have tried two different ISO leads that the audio places say should fit? 16 pin in the back of alpine to the two seperate leads in my dashboard.. Neither have worked though. Can I get a lead that goes from the Alpine lead it came with to my two leads in dash? Not sure now what I can be doing wrong I would have thought with the correct lead its plug and play? Thanks My leads in dash and the loom from the back of Alpine Click image to enlarge So I took this loom out and fitted the second of the looms I bought which split to my two leads.. still nothing Click image to enlarge Help please.... |

Is it a puma you have?
If so follow the cables coming out of the back of the two plugs in your dash and they will plug into another connector located below the clock. You should be able to unplug this and plug the one you have in your hand direct into this. Mike |

Hello
So tried again, old radio out and torch in gap and pulled leads a little in the hole. Nothing attached to the cable? these are what comes out of the dash...with the newer ones near them in this picture Click image to enlarge This is the back of the head unit with the 16 pin lead in Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge but still nothing.... so this is the second lead I have bought and seem to fit the connectors on both the radio and car but nothing from the headunit? This is the lead next to the lead that came with the radio. Am I missing anything? I have checked the radio fuse and that appears fine. Click image to enlarge SO old radio back in and all works again |

Hello
OK so I tried Chasing the lead back removing the front part of dashboard in the hope I would find a bigger lead connect to the two smaller ones... But no luck. Has anyone else fitted this radio to a puma? which has the std Radio its a XS model? If so what lead did you require. The radio shops are saying its this one and I've tried two now and no luck? Thanks |

Which leads have you been sold (part numbers/IDs)?
Any chance of a detailed photo of the wires coming out of each Alpine connector? On the original LR loom (cloth taped one) and a lead you've been sold? A standard ISO -> Alpine should work 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |

Have you actually got power both, permanent live, and ignition live coming through to the ISO connectors coming out of the loom?

^ I will try and get pictures that make sense.
As for power the original loom works fine with my original land-rover cd player. I've not tried a multi-meter on the 2 other looms I have tried, One I sent back as thought its not working but then the second isn't... This is the lead which came with head unit. Click image to enlarge but these are the leads in my dashboard (the two at the back) Click image to enlarge This is the back of the head unit with the 1st lead I sent back... Click image to enlarge This is the lead I have currently and plugs into back of head unit and the two leads coming out of dashboard fine, I was told the extra lead is for a phone. but plugging this in nothing happens? |

extra lead will be a remote control cable for a phone, power antenna, external amplifer etc. If you're not using it just tape it up.
Does the new head unit actually work? Because if you've got power where it should be then the head unit is likely faulty. Just because it's new doesn't mean it's not faulty. You say you've checked the radio fuse, i assume that's the one in the fuse box? (which must be fine if your original radio still works) What about the small one in the back of the head unit? Even if it looks ok, try replacing the fuse anyway, i've had a blade fuse once in the past that looked fine, and had a continuity test passed on a multi meter but just wouldnt work. |

Hello I bought it off a forum member here who upgraded to double din and yes I have a guarantee it works?
I've checked the fuses and they all appear ok and as you say the original radio works.. Thought it would be plug and play nice quick job. |
