Best practice is to replace the footwell?

It depends on the rest of the footwell and what repairs you are doing. If that is all the corrosion, then no need to replace, just treat the rust and repaint.
Easy way to check what is steel or aluminium is to use a magnet. |

ok goto it - it doesn't look very bad at all but if i have it apart i was considering the job
i am guessing if steel i can weld a plate over if need be |

I wouldn't count that as severe at all! Personally I'd treat and repaint

Ok lone weekend and i managed to find time the lift the flooring and some of the soundproofing - and it revealed more rust than expected - for long term use - replace footwell
if replace - anyone have a guide - cut pots, weld /rivet and seal - gotchas? ![]() ![]() Click image to enlarge |
