Dimension fuel filler cap
I kindly would like to ask for some help:

I have two 1985 90's here and lost the filler cap of one of them, so need to order a new one.
Parts manual says I need the NRC 9572 as I need a two lug.

I found out though that both 90's have a different diameter although both are the two lug type and same year.

1. 2-lug filler cap, neck is 3 3/8"
2. 2-lug filler cap, neck is 3 5/8"

I need the last one, the bigger one.

So is NRC9572 for the small or big neck ?
And if so, what partnumber goes with the bigger neck ?

I don't know if this is any use (if not at least you get a bump)...

a quick google shows that several places are listing NRC 9572 as "up to VIN 259678"

Defenders have lots of variation, if you want to get the right part, call a well known specialist like John Craddocks.

Ebay is a waste of time from my experiance, you will pay a bit more from a specialist but you also won't end up with junk. 1993 200 Tdi 90 CSW

Or a decent specialist. Laughing

One who complies with consumer law on displaying VAT inclusive pricing for example.... Rolling Eyes

Personally i think it's always worth asking your local main dealer, some parts are quite reasonable and once they get to know you they'll give you a decent discount too. They have excellent returns and warranty terms too.

I agree about Craddocks not showing a vat inclusive price. I think they do so to give the appearance of Craddocks being the cheapest.

Their excuse is that many of their customers are based outside the UK so are not liable to pay UK vat.

However it’s an offence under the ‘Price Marking Order 2004’ in the UK to show the price without VAT if you sell to UK public. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

thanks for all the input.

1. Both cars are below VIN 259678, not any of my manuals give any difference in that.

2. Yes, asking John Craddock is a good idea, however I am in a kind of hurry. They normally take between 1 or 2 weeks to answer a question and then another 2 weeks to ship.(l am living in US)

Still hoping that somebody can give me the part number for the 3 5/8"neck.

The people on the phone have always been very helpful to me and been knowlageable about our series 1s, disco 1&2, 110 and 90, not sure about the VAT issue as when you add it to the basket it calculates it very clearly.

Best call them, the boys there are old school 1993 200 Tdi 90 CSW

I think even a US dealer should be able to access the Defender parts catalogue and order the parts, though they're unlikely to be in stock in the US. Just depends how helpful the parts assistant wants to be.

Have you tried the filler cap you do have on both cars? With only a quarter inch difference it might fit.

There is only one 2 lug filler cap listed.

Another good one with people who know defenders well are http://www.roean.co.uk/, I was there today buying parts, they've got a big inventory but they don't have a webshop so you'll have to call them. 1993 200 Tdi 90 CSW

They're legally obliged to advertise VAT inclusive prices if they mainly sell to the public. Regardless of what it actually says on the invoice. Makes you wonder what other legal obligations they choose to ignore. I wonder if they illegally charge a "restocking fee" or "handling fee" on returns too.....

If you sell to or advertise to trade only then you're allowed to show Ex-vat prices only, but still have to charge and issue a VAT invoice. I would bet their online shop software has the capability to automatically show both VAT and Ex-vat prices, they just choose not to use it....
