After installing two side steps and a rear step without a proper Rivnet/Nutsert setting tool and discovering that my new pressy from Santa (LR front mudflaps) didn't come with a fixing kit (cheap skate! I decided to bite the bullet. I fitted my front mudflaps in the dark and in the rain in under 15 mins using one of these tools. Highly recommended. If it ain't broke don't fix it!

Another vote here for Memfast. I've ordered from them before and the kit is always excellent and delivered very quickly.

Going to be ordering one of these tools soon. See they also sell rubber rivnuts, do you reckon these would be good to use when fitting a safari snorkle. May prevent any corrosive reaction from steel rivnuts and prevent rattling? Or am I being over cautious?

The plactic ones will have a little play in it that wouldn't be good for the snorkel. Maybe the best option would be to go for Stainless Steel rivnuts as it should cut back on corrosion. Glyn |

Application of duralac will help combat bimetallic corrosion. How would waxoyl do for stopping bimetallic corrosion?
Have used the rivnut tool and it works well. If going into an awkward corner avoid across axis force as you can snap the insertion bolt. Brendan |

Only problem with things like that is that you 'should' drill just the right size hole so that when you insert the rivnut the splines on it should wedge into the material it is being bolted to so will take away any paint/ wax you have applied to it. Anything in there to prevent the elements getting in would be best but you will always have the metal on metal contact. Just a thought..... I am sure I have seen Alloy rivnuts.....the threads wouldn't be as strong as steel ones though but for snorkels it should be fine. Glyn |

sorry to bump an old thread but didn't see the point in starting a new one!
If i was to purchase this tool, what size fitting kit would be needed to fit new mudflaps on a td5 defender 90? Thanks Hugh |

Dependant on how solid the metalwork is once removal of original fasteners/bolts has been achieved on the Puma size M8 would do it! A selection of M6, M8 and M10's should cover most scenarios for a considerable time I would say! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

M5 and M6 are the two sizes I use the most. I also bought M4 but I don't think I've ever used that. One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS
