Looks like the job is getting done properly loving the escort too, it reminds me of my younger panel beating days and playing with the bosses rally car Ray

In the background there's genuine RS500 Thundersaloon, a Zakspeed MK2 escort, an awesome Anglia, a 4wd coz drivetrained Sunbeam and a Lotus Sunbeam, plus a load of scrapper mk1 and 2 Escorts. He knows his junk.
Let's see how long it takes him, though |

My mate came up good and welded the cracks in the drivers side door top. apparently he needed magnesium rods.
Awesome job. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge I'd already painted the passenger side and bought new felts, the rubber trim inserts were covered in NATO paint, so it took some getting off with wire wool. They turned out great Click image to enlarge The felt was cut to size and put into the frames. Click image to enlarge There's a bit of difference and they'll do for frequent fit and removal. I'll make some kind of padded carrier for them, so we can take them off if the rain stops Click image to enlarge |

They look really good. I had a set on my old Stage 1 years ago and they were much better than the standard Series version.
Is there any reason you've gone for felt over the newer plastic channel inserts? Darren 110 USW BUILD THREAD - EXPEDITION TRAILER - 200tdi 90 BUILD THREAD - SANKEY TRAILER - IG@landroveranorak "You came in that thing? You're braver than I thought!" - Princess Leia |

Also, in the US they have proper made carriers for these door tops for the NAS defenders. ECR or Rovers Down South or Rovers North should carry them.
You can also get a nice set of stainless tapered bolts for holding the door top in place, and they don't rust up! I've got a set in the garage somewhere. |

@anorak, I just opted for felts as that what i pulled out. I did order rubber/felt insert from Woolies, but it was too wide. I wasn't aware of the plastic version to be honest.
@Ade, I think people will go for them, especially as the doors are really affordable new, they cost less than I sold my old rusty doors for @Ellis & Jim, I'll check them out, cheers Regarding the lower doors, I've had inside info that Kev @ MUD is working on interior panels for them.. (inside info, as in, I've been pestering him for some ) |

Ah, that's a shame. Plastic channels for the glass in door tops was introduced by the Series III club, probably nearly twenty years ago and I think are more widely available now. They replace the felt-lined metal channels, which always seem to rust in place. Darren
