I've used one of the ebay hydraulic crimpers and while they're not perfect, they do work pretty well. THe main issue with them is the dies. The machining on them isn't perfect, and sometimes you have to go up or down a size from what you think to get a good crimp.

For winch cables (larger) i'd look at the H-type hydro crimpers over the C-type you've linked there.

Generally I prefer a hex crimp over an indent crimp, though both are valid.

I think the only reason I miss my old job is being able to borrow their klauke battery hydraulic crimper, with dies from 10mm up to 300!!!

I have one of those 16ton eBay specials and so far it's worked well for winch cables.

Miggit, from the looks I would say I have the identical tool! The dies are a bit rough and I ended up usiing 35mm on 53mm cable Laughing However it actually works quite well that being said Thumbs Up I have done quite a few little jobs with it and it's going strong, it Evan came with replacement seals. Yes I could of purchased I CABAC or similar as I generally go for things that last! The reality it would have for me been unnessarary expenditure! Thumbs Up
