Noticed this on eBay, out of my price range but would be a nice piece of history to have.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Land-Rover-Defen...Swc49Y6pd- Compared to the Special editions it could be a good value collectors item. |

I think the build number, documentation and story very nearly justify the high asking price. I could live the with the spec and colour combo (red seats?) for a driver, but would have chosen something more subtle and iconic for what basically has to be treated as a collectorīs item. And I totally agree with Roddy, why not clean it up properly and take some decent photos? 1998 Tdi 90 SW,
2008 Td4 90 SW, 2012 2.2 90 SW, 2" raised Trailmaster/Terrafirma Heavy Track Raids, 255 MTīs, Recaro CSīs, anorak, wellingtons |

Certainly a lot of money! I've been trying to find out about these last Defenders made. Seller's location is listed as Solihull so would support the info that people connected to Land Rover got the last 20 or so. From LRM, the 4th last was a Heritage SW that went to a Land Rover manager, and from this forum, the 20th last was a red 110 with white roof and wheels that went to a dealer principle in Germany.

The production line often seemed to not be too concerned about quality during Defender production; therefore, can you imagine the quality control on the final day...

Am I interpreting the photos on ebay correctly and that the 5th to last Defender built (the one after this on the line) is a 130 double cab? If so what is the chance that that is out working for a living?
