Hi Mike
Welcome to the forum. That is a big open topic and there are a lot of variables around what you are looking for. Seats from £1000 up to £3500 for 7 in leather or more if you want to. Engine conversion from £5k up to ££££££££££ as much as you want to spend. Led lights are a great upgrade.£150 upwards. HR064 Hampshire and Berkshire 4x4 Response |

I would recommend getting a lend of one for a week first, you need to make sure you will enjoy driving it before spending out a huge amount of cash on something.
Even with all your modifications it will still be a Land Rover, there's a certain amount of noise, lack of comfort and harshness that can't be taken away. |

Welcome to Def2, you're in the right place for a wealth of information, but it will cost you a fortune!
JJ beat me to it, but this thread is an excellent thread to start with http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic40056.html Money no object I would have gone to Twisted but that was never going to happen. Urban Truck are worth an enquiry, very helpful and quick to respond, if you want a one stop shop? Alas they were still too expensive for me. I ended up using Far Corners in St. Neots and am very pleased with the work, but suspect you're after more than they will do. For interiors OEM Developments for me is the place to go. Might also look at Ruskin. It all really depends how deep your pockets are!! But good advice is buy the Defender and live with it for a while before you really decide what you need, it might change considerable if this is your first! Have a look in the 'My Defender' section and see what other people have done. Buy a standard one, drive it and upgrade the things you don't like or break doing the things that you do like.
I would look at a second hand one that's already built and running well unless you have that kind of money to burn. When I used to live in the UAE, a Kuwaiti guy I knew had his 110 converted and had nothing but problems with it. 1993 200 Tdi 90 CSW 1956 Series 1 Hard-top 1958 Series 1 Soft-top |

if you are willing to do the work yourself there is plenty you can do for good value.
for example, Exmoor trim seat upgrade kit ~£350 vs ~£1500 for new seats. there are so many companies out there supplying upgrades the possibilities are endless. My 90 Project : http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic52774.html |

Thanks all, keep the advice coming, yes I know the pitfalls of Landy ownership, Ive had TVRs in my time too, so am used to cars with character you can tinker with. It is predominantly a family car, for when we need more space / seats, as we have family from abroad that visits often and for a month or so, so 7+ seats is what we need. Its a very different drive to my wifes car, a 2016 RRS, so she has test drove a couple and as it wont be our day to day car, it will be fine, we have two other cars in case of issues that arise from Landy ownership, but I do love my cars and i practically rebult my old TVR so it was pristine, so not adverse to putting my hands in my pocket, we just love Defenders and need to scratch an itch..
The car with the LS3 engine, is an awesome piece of kit, the quality of the interior is what Im after, but engine maybe a bit overkill for me. Will have a look at all the places you recommend and look forward to posting a pic of ours when we get it. Cheers Mike |
