Air filter replacement.
Just had 40,000klm service (2nd) and air filter was 'inspected and cleaned' . Checked 1st service docs and air filter was 'inspected and cleaned', is this correct ? I wonder how many times you can clean a paper element filter before it is useless.
It was a Landrover dealer servicing Neutral

Depending on conditions I have cleaned paper air filters multiple times, by cleaned I mean I remove the air filter and used an airline to remove the dust, driving through sand and dust will clog a filter quickly and regular cleaning is important.

*when cleaning an air filter with an airline make sure you blow the dirt out of the filter and not into it Thumbs Up 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html

Or you could put a brand new one in?

Why bother cleaning it if you have already removed it?

Shouldn't be cleaned, it should be replaced.

Relatively cheap, and removing and refitting the same filter give a higher likelihood of contamination.
Sure, you can brush it off a little on the inlet side carefully.

But that is purely a regular maintenance thing, they should IMHO be changed no later than every other year.

I sometimes change it every year depending on condition. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R
