I can't imagine that there's an off-the-shelf conversion available as it not what you'd call a common modification.
By far the easiest solution would be to cut in a filler from an earlier tub - salvage your old one? If you wanted to go the whole hog then re-skin that wing with an earlier pressing to lose the TD5 filler location. The 50th Defender has a rear mounted fuel tank.
Maybe there are some parts available off the shelf. The filler and breather look similar to TD5. Also 110s have rear mounted tanks of the era; again maybe they have suitable off the shelf items |

The problem will be routing the filler pipe from behind the wheel to the under seat tank. There won't be any off the shelf parts for that. Darren

Is it a tub with a bulkhead or without one ?
If its without one I'd be interested in it as I think you need a 300tdi one or earlier to do what you want. I have this surplus........ Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |

I doubt there's a kit available but you could probably get one made up from a local fabricator or put something together using some silicon bends and some exhaust pipe.
The main thing to bear in mind is that you need to be able to fill it and to do that you'll have to be very careful to route the pipework. You'd need to make sure that it has a good "fall" to the tank at all points and that the filling vent is routed and connected up too. TBH, especially with a V8, you'd be better off fitting a TD5 tank at the back, they're bigger than the underseat one. http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/ |
