Hi guys, apologies for the delay in posting. It turns out removing the loom requires stripping the whole car and everything in it. Well the loom is finally out, so hopefully next weekend I shall be putting the fuel tank in to complete the rear end and starting to put the loom in place.

Hi guys,
Sorry for the long delay in posting. A TVR gearbox change and getting knocked off my motorbike set me back, I finally got around to working on it this week and fitted the fuel tank, fuel lines, inlet manifold and engine loom I thought I was doing great until I tried to start it, it turns over but is not firing and the fuel pump isn't running. Does anyone know what this may be? I've thought CPS but as the car was running when the engine came out which makes me think it's not this. I'll post pictures soon when I get it back out. |

Have you checked the immobilising plunger (usually mounted on the bulkhead) if the loom has been moved about a lot it could have popped up stopping power to the fuel pump. Just press the rubber plunger back down and have another go at starting it. Ray

Thanks Mk1 Collector for that, it doesn't seem to have worked.
I replaced the alarm receiver as I didn't plug the original one in and believe it has been thrown away during the garage clearcut. The red immobiliser light doesn't ignite in the instrument cluster so I think the immobiliser is still active, I'm trying to get my head around how to disable this. I'm going to work through all the loom tomorrow to make sure all the necessary plugs are connected and will hopefully be posting a video of it started. |

Hi all,
After a great amount of time, the car still isn't starting. It cranks over but has no fuel or spark so I can only assume it's immobiliser locking off these circuits. Does anyone know how to bypass the immobiliser? |

I would suggest that you won't get any positive advice on that question on an open forum for obvious reasons...
Maybe now is about the time to seek the services of a good independent auto electrician. Have been watching your build with interest as I looked at the donor car just before you bought it and would have bought it myself if it had been manual not automatic - with hindsight I should probably have bought it anyway but hey ho! Hope you get this issue resolved and can move on with the build. |

I had an auto electrician come out but he was unable to sort the issue out. So as I've now scrapped the rest of the car I bought as a donor car I don't think I got everything off it I needed which is a shame. So I'm now looking for another disco 2 v8 to get little bits and bobs from to hopefully get this one to run.
If anyone knows of one going, I would really appreciate you letting me know. |

Daft question but are you using the D2 ignition lock & key or are you trying to get it to work with the Defender ignition barrel & key??

D2 ignition barrel and key VVS210, I've decided to buy yet another V8 D2 to get all electrical parts off that I should have originally kept. Once I get it started I will then start to remove the things I don't need one at a time so that if it does stop starting I can quickly reconnect the item.
So if anyone wants anything from a D2 V8, I'll have most parts going. |

So I finally got another Disco 2 V8. If anyone needs anything off of this let me know. I'll post in the for sale section too. |

Hi all,
So I have stripped the ECU's, fuse boxes and little control boxes out of another disco 2 and the car still does not start. I'm starting to think it's either the loom or the crank position sensor, although it was working in the original donor car I am not sure if it has been disturbed as a result of the swap. Does anyone know why the manual and V8 sensors are different? |
