Intermittent loss of power

Hello Everone
This is my first post and I am not technically minded so bear with!!!!
I have a puma tcdi 2007 when Mary is on form she goes like a rocket recently she has had several episodes of loss of power,engine running like a bag of spanners (technical term) unable to rev above 3000rpm. Once you have stopped and restarted the engine the problem resolves it self no engine lights on dash. The problem can occur on a long or short drive or not at all
I have replaced the EGR valve MAP and MAF sensor and a new air filter. Problem still exists.
Does any member have any thoughts of where to look next.

That is very common Tdci defender problem.
I had same kind of issues with my car.
I don't know why but it seems that problem solved when I removed Mantec snorkel.
Next time if the car goes to "limp mode" I'll buy an bigger intercooler.

VCV perhaps, it can cause all manner of problems with no DTCs.

First question, do you have aircon?

The aircon fitted defenders seem to have this problem. The first thing you should look at is how high the temp is before going into limp mode. This seems to be the most common cause for this problem. Whilst driving use a nano com or for i.e. icarsoft (which i use) and look at the temp. when it reaches 109 c it will go into limp mode.

If this is the case there are 2 reasonable cheap ways (for the links see below) to correct this and one very expensive
