Like many things, they get shipped off - caravans, motor-homes and i think defenders, quickly find their way to ireland and France and then beyond Mike

I expect some just get their ID's changed, then driven to one of the container ports put in a box and shipped off to africa.
Most though just get broken up for bits i think, look at all the Land Rover parts on ebay.... It's easier to strip down a Defender than say a Range Rover, and there's a bigger demand for the parts. It's also easier to move a van load of parts out of the country than a complete car. Most cars on trailers get stopped by Kent Police and checked at the channel ports, a van load of parts not so much, as how would they be identified? At best Police might have a quick look in the back and check the van doesn't have a marker for any kind of vehicle crime. |

When I spoke to the recovery garage that collected mine for the police (Essex admittedly) they told me the get one a week roughly as a stolen recovered. They are near Essex, Kent borders and close to London so I don't know what area they cover.
